Later shuttle buses give visitors more time to enjoy South Park fireworks

Oxford Bus Company will be providing later shuttle buses, giving visitors more time to enjoy this year’s fireworks display in South Park.

The event is organised annually by Oxford Round Table volunteers and has raised more than £1 million for charities since its inception in 1967.

This year’s display will take place on Saturday 7th November, with gates opening from 4:30pm. There will be low-noise fireworks at 6:30pm followed by the main display at 7:15pm.

Oxford Bus Company is providing a shuttle bus between Thornhill Park & Ride and South Park, with the special 450 service stopping at St Clement’s and Cherwell Street.

The shuttle service will operate from Thornhill Park & Ride between 4:15pm and 6:45pm, with return journeys from the Cherwell Street bus stop beginning at 7:45pm and continuing until 10:15pm.

Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Company, said: “We’re proud to be supporting this fantastic event once again this year and to be providing a later shuttle bus from South Park.

“This will allow visitors that extra bit of time to enjoy all the festivities in the knowledge there is affordable and convenient travel for them when they leave.

“Oxford Round Table does a brilliant job each year of providing this community event, which continues to raise important funds for various local good causes.”

The 450 shuttle bus will run in addition to the regular 400 timetable from Thame to St Clement’s via Thornhill Park & Ride, providing a combined frequency of every five minutes until late in the evening.

Normal bus fares will apply on the shuttle service and the 400, with £3 combined parking and bus travel tickets available from Thornhill, covering up to five people.

Various other bus services serve South Park, including from Barton (8), Rose Hill (20), Seacourt Park & Ride (4 & 400), and Wood Farm (15). The last bus on the 20 service leaves South Park towards Rose Hill at 7:25pm.

Following the low-noise and main firework displays, there will be a silent disco after-party, while entertainment will be available throughout the evening at the Hebborns funfair. Food and drink will be available to purchase from local vendors and businesses.

All profits from the firework display are donated to local charities and good causes, with the likes of Be Free Young Carers, Helen & Douglas House, Homeless Oxfordshire, and Sobell House among those to have received donations in recent years.
