Free bus travel for veterans and military personnel on Remembrance Sunday
Today

Go Thames Valley is providing free travel for all veterans and UK military personnel attending Remembrance Sunday services on 8th November.
The free travel is available on Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and Pulhams bus services, and applies to anyone who can show their service ID, a veterans badge, service medals, or who is in military uniform, including cadets.
At 11am on Remembrance Sunday, Go Thames Valley is also offering drivers the opportunity to pull into the nearest bus stop and participate in a two-minute silence.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Go Thames Valley, said: “Remembrance Sunday is a poignant and sombre reminder of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces through from the First World War to the present day.
“We have veterans working across our business and we’re proud of their service with the Armed Forces.
“We’re conscious too of the various military bases within the communities we serve, so this is a small way we can show our appreciation and gratitude to all of those inspirational men and women.”
Remembrance Sunday is held each year on the second Sunday of November to commemorate service members who have died in wars and other military conflicts since the First World War.
A two-minute silence is observed across the country at 11am, with various ceremonies and services taking place throughout the day.
Due to parades and events taking place in cities, towns and villages across the Go Thames Valley network, it is likely diversions or delays will be in place on some routes.
The offer of free travel for veterans and military personnel is available on local bus services but does not apply to City Sightseeing Oxford or the airline coach service between Oxford and the Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.
Go Thames Valley is the region’s largest bus operator, with its portfolio including Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses, Pearces, Pulhams, City Sightseeing Oxford, and the airline coach service.
