Fare Changes from 22nd February 2026

From Sunday 22nd February 2026 we’ll be making a number of changes to our tickets and fares to simplify our range for customers and to speed up bus boarding to improve journey times.

We’ll continue to participate in the Government’s National Bus Fare Cap scheme, meaning all Single and Return tickets will be capped at £3.00 and £6.00 respectively, but there will be some changes to other Single and Return ticket prices.

Return tickets will no longer be available for journeys wholly within Oxford SmartZone*, but the majority of customers purchasing these can continue to pay £4.50 per day by switching to FreeFlow, our tap-on, tap-off payment, which caps at the unchanged Adult CityZone 1 Day rate of £4.50.

We’ve frozen the price of all Adult and Young Person 1 Day and 1 Week tickets across all of our Zones, and although the price of some of our other tickets is increasing, we’ve worked hard to keep these as small as possible. Full details can be found by selecting your Zone here

From the same date, our CityZone Extra range of tickets is withdrawn due to low usage, with alternatives already being offered by the National Bus Fare Cap, the MyBus Oxfordshire range of tickets and our CityZone & CountryZone products. Any existing CityZone Extra tickets will continue to be accepted until their expiry.

Also withdrawn are SmartZone Any5Day tickets, with customers able to use our app to purchase 1 Day tickets in whichever multiple suits best, and Park&Ride 72 Hour Return tickets.

We understand that changes to fares are never welcome news, and have explored all other options to ensure our services remain viable to operate. These revisions are also driven by customer feedback asking for more simple fares, and the wider adoption of FreeFlow tap on, tap off ticketing will speed up bus journeys for everyone.

For any assistance with finding the best value fare for your journey, please contact our friendly Customer Services team using the details here. *Return tickets will continue to be available for journeys from Park&Ride sites to the City Centre. The ongoing Free Park&Ride Return offer is unaffected by this change.
