Changes to Fares in the Reading Area

From Monday, 2nd June 2025, there will be a number of changes to the price of tickets in the Reading area.

Government funding which had previously been used to discount the Reading All-Bus range of tickets is now coming to an end, which means these tickets will no longer be available at discounted prices. We’re pleased to say we’ve worked with Reading Borough Council to ensure the continued operation of the scheme, with prices revised as follows:

on Buson AppFreeflow (tap on, tap off)
Adult£5.40£4.90£4.90
18&Under£4.20£4.20n/a
Group (Peak)£10.80£10.80n/a
Group (Off-Peak)£8.80£8.80n/a

To help ensure our services continue to offer customers great value for money, we’re also pleased to announce that we’ll be offering Return tickets within the Reading area from the same date. These tickets will be best value for those making a journey to and then returning from the same point on the same day, offering a saving on the price of two Single journeys.

For example, an Adult Return from either Caversham Centre to Reading Town Centre will cost just £2.30. You can buy these tickets from your driver using contactless (card or mobile) or cash, with change available for your convenience. These tickets will only be available to buy and use on Thames Travel services X40 and 40C.
