Thames Travel has invested in extensive improvements at its Didcot depot to provide enhanced facilities for its team.
The bus operator has transformed its break facilities, control room, offices, toilet and locker facilities to provide a modernised environment for its workforce. It has also introduced a multi-faith prayer room for colleagues to use for moments of quiet reflection.
Thames Travel carried out the improvements based on colleague feedback gathered via its annual staff survey.
It has also announced its latest recruitment day where job hunters can visit the depot, see the enhanced facilities and discuss the opportunity to become a bus driver. The bus driver recruitment day provides a fast-track route for suitable people to secure a full-time or part-time driving job. A £4,000 bonus scheme is on offer for existing PCV licence holders.
The drop-in style event on Sunday April 27th takes place between 10am and 3pm at Thames Travel’s Didcot depot.
Bus drivers are an integral part of the UK and often at the heart of their local communities. Being a driver means playing an essential role keeping people connected with friends and family, making sure they can access essential services, and travel to work, education or other training opportunities.
Luke Marion, Thames Travel Managing Director, said: “We’ve invested a six-figure sum into delivering fantastic improvements to our Didcot depot that are directly based on valued colleague feedback.
“Our recruitment open day is a great opportunity to come and see the improvements and have a chat about bus driving careers. Bus driving is a hugely rewarding job and a lot of our drivers have been with us for many years. They are a vital part of our community, helping connect people, reduce congestion and improve air quality.”
Candidates need to have held a manual driving licence for 12 months and have experience of providing excellent customer service skills. A variety of full and part time shift patterns to accommodate differing lifestyles are available. Full training is provided for all successful candidates and benefits include free bus travel for immediate family.
