Service changes from 21st November 2021

From Sunday 21st November, we made some changes to Thames Travel services to better match supply with demand and to improve reliability as follows:

River Rapids

X39/X40

There is a revised route in Oxford with buses operating from Westgate stop E3 and then serving stops T2 and K2 on the High Street before continuing via Iffley Road, Henley Avenue and Rose Hill to the Eastern By-pass. In the evenings, buses additionally serve Littlemore and Sandford-on-Thames. NX40 buses that operate on Friday and Saturday nights (in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning) follow the same route providing a night service to Littlemore and Sandford. The X39/X40 operate up to twice an hour between Oxford and Reading on Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays, an approximately half-hourly service operate between Oxford and Wallingford with one bus per hour continuing to and starting from Reading.

X38

There is a revised timetable with buses operating up to every hour between Wallingford and Henley-upon-Thames seven days a week. Passengers wishing to travel between Henley and Oxford should change to the X39/X40 services at either Crowmarsh Gifford or Wallingford.

There is a revised timetable with times adjusted to improve reliability.

There is a revised timetable with more journeys operating. The service is extended beyond Cowley Centre to Watlington Road Lidl. Between Rose Hill and Cowley Centre, buses operate via Florence Park. The service is now operated by Oxford Bus Company. All existing tickets and passes remain valid.

There is a revised timetable with the pattern of service reverting back to when the service was first introduced in October 2018. This means that, whilst for much of the day the timetable remains broadly the same as now, the 15:44 hrs journey from White Horse Leisure Centre no longer operates. Additionally, the 13:55 hrs from Saxton Road and the 14:34 hrs from White Horse Leisure Centre are not able to operate on Fridays, with the 14:34 hrs terminating at Saxton Road.

There is a revised timetable with the section of the route between Berinsfield and Cowley withdrawn. Passengers from Berinsfield and Nuneham Courtenay wishing to go to Cowley are able to catch the revised X39/X40 services and change to the 20 service at Rose Hill Parade.

These very lightly used services were withdrawn. Passengers from Didcot for Culham Science Centre or Berinsfield should use the X2 or 33 services to Abingdon, where it is possible to catch the 45 service.
