Oxford Christmas Light Bus back by popular demand
5 months ago
The Oxford Christmas Light Bus is returning to the streets of the county on Saturday – to visit communities who voted for it to stop in their area.
Following the overwhelming success of the recent Christmas Light Bus tour, Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel and City Sightseeing Oxford decided to deliver another day of festive activity. But this time, they gave residents a say in where the bus will visit via an online vote and created a special route.
The City Sightseeing Oxford open-topped bus which will be decked out in festive lights will stop at multiple locations across the five-hour tour.
Members of the Oxford Bus Company team will hand out sweets to visitors who stop to see the bus and JACKfm will play Christmas tunes.
The glistening bus will set off from the Cowley House depot at 3.30pm and stop in Blackbird Leys, Rose Hill, Littlemore, Kennington, Radley, Abingdon, Culham, Sutton Courtenay, Milton, Drayton, Abingdon, Oxford and Wood Farm.
Phil Southall, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director, said: “The feedback we received from the recent tour was overwhelmingly positive and it really helped deliver some much-needed joy. So, we decided to provide another tour and spread some festive joy further.
“While we can’t visit every community, we wanted to make sure we opened it up and made it more accessible, so we asked people to vote for where it goes. We have sought to incorporate as many locations as possible from the vote within the time we’re on the road.
“A big thank you goes to all partners and colleagues who have made this possible. We’re pleased to be able to give something back at Christmas and are looking forward to it.”
