Glenn De Sousa has been appointed as Head of Commercial at Oxford Bus Group, to help drive strategic partnerships as part of its network growth plan.
Mr De Sousa started his career at Oxford Bus Company via the Go-Ahead Group’s graduate training scheme. He has since worked across Oxford Bus Group in commercial operations and network planning roles for Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and Pulhams Coaches.
His promotion follows a restructure of the group’s commercial department to underpin continued growth. Mr De Sousa’s role will include enhanced responsibilities for publicity and stakeholder engagement with the group’s corporate partners.
A key part of his role includes further developing strategic partnerships, which in recent years has seen the Oxford Bus Group grow its network and make bus travel more accessible and appealing.
Partnerships exist with major science and tech hub including Milton Park, Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Culham Campus, and Oxford Science Park. It also has a long-standing partnership with Oxford Brookes University.
Mr De Sousa said: “I am proud to have been promoted and am relishing the new opportunities it presents to help grow the business and deliver an ever-improving customer experience.
“The role recognises the importance of ensuring our scheduling and network planning are optimally suited to meeting the needs of our stakeholders.
“I am grateful to work for a company which places such an emphasis on professional development, and I have benefited from a fast-track scheme which has allowed me to obtain significant experience in all areas of the business.”
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Oxford Bus Group, said: “Glenn’s promotion is fantastic news for the group and is a great example of the professional opportunities available to those with the right skills and dedication.
“Glenn’s promotion comes after a series of important developments in the last twelve months, including the roll-out of our first electric Oxford Brookes University branded buses and renewed partnerships with Harwell Science and Innovation Campus and Milton Park.
“The group is operating in a rapidly changing environment and Glenn’s role will help ensure that we have a fit-for-purpose, long-term post-pandemic operating model with an enhanced focus on commercial partnerships.
“On behalf of everyone at Oxford Bus Group, I’d like to wish Glenn all the best in his new role.”
