Carousel Buses announces enhancements to Wycombe network following takeover
1 year ago
Carousel Buses has announced its first round of enhancements to improve connectivity and frequency of services following its takeover of Arriva’s Wycombe network at the end of July.
Several improvements will be in operation from Sunday, September 1, with more buses travelling to and from Wycombe serving Marlow, Henley, Reading and Bourne End, in addition to new Sunday services to Maidenhead and the Chalfonts.
The move comes exactly five weeks after Carousel Buses replaced Arriva’s routes following the closure of its depots in Aylesbury and Wycombe.
Key changes include doubling the frequency of Carousel’s 36 and 37 services connecting High Wycombe and Bourne End during the week, restoring the previous 15-minute service frequency which was in place prior to the pandemic.
A new Sunday service on route 37 has been established between Wycombe and Maidenhead, plus a new Sunday service on route 104 between Beaconsfield, the Chalfonts and Uxbridge – a route which will also see further enhancements during weekday mornings.
There’ll also be increases in frequency to existing Sunday services, including the 103/X103 between High Wycombe, Beaconsfield and Slough, and Flightline 102 connecting Wycombe with Heathrow Airport which will now operate the same timetable seven days a week.
Passengers travelling between Wycombe and Reading during the week will also benefit from three buses each hour on Carousel’s 850 service travelling via Marlow, Henley and Twyford.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Carousel Buses, said: “We’re pleased to begin the rollout of our first round of enhancements only five weeks after taking over from Arriva’s former services.
“Ensuring that passengers affected by Arriva’s depot closures experienced minimal disruption to their journeys has been a key priority for our team. We’ve committed to significant investments to create the infrastructure required to expand our existing network and keep routes serving Wycombe and wider Buckinghamshire operating.
“We’ve had a great response from the travelling public, with steadily building patronage on our new services, and I’d like to thank customers for their understanding of the situation while our team continues to build and develop our expanded Wycombe operation to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction.”
