Abingdon Fairs Diversions

Two Abingdon Fairs are taking place this month: 

• Michaelmas Fair (9th & 10th October) 
• Runaway Fair (16th October) 

The Michaelmas Fair covers Ock Street, High Street and the Market Place, meaning many of our services will follow diverted routes between 8th October and approximately 08:00 on 11th October. No buses will be able to serve Stratton Way or Abingdon High Street. 

During the Runaway Fair, our services will run as normal. 

The following diversions will be in place during the Michaelmas Fair:  

cityX1 

This service will divert via Faringdon Road and Spring Road, and will be unable to serve Stratton Way, High Street or Ock Street. There will be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion. 

cityNX1 

This service will operate via the normal route towards Wantage until the Vineyard, then will divert via Bath Street, Faringdon Road, Spring Road and then Marcham Road where the normal route can resume. As such, it will not serve Victoria Road, Conduit Road, Stratton Way, High Street or Ock Street. There will be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion.

This service will divert in Abingdon from Peachcroft Roundabout (towards Abingdon Centre) via Twelve Acre Drive, Radley Road and then into Oxford Road at Our Lady’s Abingdon School. Therefore, High Street, Stratton Way and the Vineyard will not be served.

This service will divert from Radley Road (just after Radley Village towards Abingdon Centre) via Twelve Acre Drive, Oxford Road, terminating at Our Lady’s Abingdon School. This means High Street, Stratton Way and the Vineyard will not be served.

This service will divert up Bath Street, Faringdon Road, Spring Road then ahead into Drayton Road, meaning it will be unable to serve High Street, Conduit Road, or Victoria Road. There will be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion. 

X2, BB1 & BB1A 

These services will be diverting via Bath Street, Faringdon Road and Spring Road in both directions. If you are travelling from Abingdon Town Centre, we advise waiting at the Bath Street stops.

If you require these services, we advise that you wait opposite the Bridge Street bus stop outside the Old Police Station. 

From Didcot/Wallingford 

Services will be diverting via East St Helen’s Street, St Helen’s Wharf, Caldecott Road, Drayton Road and Spring Road. There will be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion. 

From Oxford/Cumnor  

Services will follow the normal route to Bath Street and then proceed directly to Bridge Street via Stert Street. 

Thames Travel 41 

Services will be diverting via Bath Street, Faringdon Road and Spring Road in both directions. If you require this service, we advise waiting at the Bath Street stops, as Stratton Way and Ock Street stops will not be served. As such, this service will be unable to serve Stratton Way, Coxeters, Conduit Road and Victoria Road.  

There will be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion. 

Thames Travel 45 

Services will be diverting via East St Helen’s Street, St Helen’s Wharf, Caldecott Road, Drayton Road, Spring Road, Faringdon Road and Bath Street. As such, this service will be unable to serve Stratton Way, Coxeters, Conduit Road, Victoria Road and High Street.  

If you wish to board this service, we advise waiting at the Bath Street stop. There will also be a temporary stop on Spring Road near Edward Street that will be served during this diversion.
