Apprentice Accounts Assistant

We are looking to recruit a full time Apprentice Accounts Assistant to join the Finance Team at Cowley House. Reporting to the Financial Controller your role will be to provide support to the Finance Team by assisting in daily tasks such as reconciliation of supplier statements, processing adhoc payments, processing of petty cash and company credit cards and credit control of our sales ledgers, whilst at all times ensuring that a high level of financial control is exercised.

The main responsibilities of the role will be to:

  • Act as the point of contact between Shared Service accounts payable team in Newcastle and wider accounts team; assisting in the Payables system upgrade with supplier statement reconciliations, processing of outstanding invoices and supplier queries.
  • Control process for additions and changes to supplier master data, working with the business and shared services to ensure accuracy of data held.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate processing of all manual cheque and one off BACS payment requests, with all payments to be approved in line with agreed authorisation matrices.
  • Raise purchase orders for approval by the Financial Controller and / or Finance & Commercial Director for any items to be purchased by the finance team.
  • Control monthly colleague expenses process and company credit card payments
  • Assist cash office supervisor in the supervision of secure cash collections and daily admin duties.
  • Control petty cash for the Oxford office and support the satellite High Wycombe and Didcot depots in managing their petty cash.
  • Posting of revenue journals, and any other journals as directed by the Financial Controller and Finance & Commercial Director.
  • Chase outstanding debt and propose actions to be taken to recover debt; following a chasing cycle process.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the Financial Controller.

To succeed in this role you will be a team player, positive, self-motivated and driven character with a clear desire to succeed. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of accuracy in your work and to effectively prioritise workload to meet deadlines. You will ideally have some experience of working with figures or in accounts and be prepared to study to develop your career.

You will be expected to complete your Level 3 AAT apprenticeship at college under the Apprenticeship Scheme.

Engineering Shift Supervisor

Working 5 days from 7 on a 3 line rota

We are recruiting for the position of Engineering Shift Supervisor, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The Engineering Shift Supervisor has responsibility for co-ordinating Engineering activity during their shift. The role is considered as first line supervision, completing a combination of hands on, as well as supervisory activities.

The ideal candidate will be a professional, motivated, hands-on individual who can ideally demonstrate some experience of managing people and be able to work effectively under pressure without close supervision, prioritise workload, and work to a high degree of accuracy.

You will be responsible for the supervision of all engineering activities during your shift, including vehicle servicing, defect rectification and ensuring sufficient vehicles are available to the required standards of reliability, presentation and condition to meet the operational requirements of the company. You will need to be comfortable taking responsibility and following situations through to a successful conclusion.

A background and qualification in mechanical engineering, City and Guilds NVQ Level 3, or equivalent along with the ability to use or learn communications and computer technology is essential.

Possession of a full manual car driving licence is essential, and a PCV licence is preferred.

Running Shift Engineer Vacancy

Monday to Friday £19.93 per hour. Saturday and Sunday £27.89 per hour

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Running Shift Engineer to work within our Engineering team. The role involves responding to vehicles on the road which are experiencing technical issues, as well as the inspection and quality repairs to our fleet of company vehicles. At all times this must be done to Company and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) standards.Delete

The successful applicant must be able to work unsupervised to company and DVSA standards and have experience of working with PCV or HGVs. A City and Guilds, Level 3/NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, is essential as is a full manual driving licence.

You will be required to work 37 hours per week on a rotating shift basis. The ideal candidate will have an ability to stay calm under pressure, to prioritise workload and to work to a high degree of accuracy unsupervised. You must be good team player and be able to communicate appropriately at all levels.
