Financial Accountant

As our Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting reporting requirements, and leading the Cash Office team to ensure the smooth running of daily cash operations.

What you'll do
  • Ownership of the cash forecasting for all entities, including the preparation and submission of a weekly cash flow file to the Group Treasury team
  • Treasury Management across all entities, corresponding with the Group Treasury team
  • Review weekly Accounts Payable BACS payment runs, prepared by the shared services team
  • Responsibility for maintaining the balance sheets for payroll and cash accounts
  • Prepare periodic VAT returns, correspond with HMRC and Group colleagues on tax updates
  • Manage multiple bank accounts across entities, ensuring full reconciliation within period reporting timelines
  • Bank reconciliation for cash collections across all sites
  • Manage the onboarding of acquired businesses into Group cash processes including drivers shorts and overs
  • Line management of the Cash Office Supervisor and Cash Office Assistant, overseeing all cash operations across all entities
  • Call outs to paying in machine faults, outside of working hours
  • Any other reasonable responsibilities
Previous Experience
  • Previous experience in a finance, treasury or accounting role.
  • Experience of cash flow forecasting, bank reconciliations and VAT returns.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is desirable.
  • AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organisational skills.
