the concept
The stakeholder concept, in essence, is to bring together a wide variety of people, each of whom have an interest in Oxford Bus Company and/or the manner in which it conducts its business.
The aim of the Stakeholder Board is to improve the company’s understanding of, and responsiveness to the needs of customers, employees and members of the wider community.
The Board monitors company activity, and makes suggestions as to how services can be improved. It can also be asked by the company to give opinions on various issues that may affect the company’s service. By having a wide range of interests available in a single forum, issues can be fully debated and the combination of views expressed results in better decision making.

how to become a stakeholder board member
what does it entail?
The post of Stakeholder Board member is voluntary and will take about 20 hours of your time each year, spread throughout the year.
The OBC Stakeholder Board meets every two months, and these meetings last about two to two-and-a-half hours.
In between meetings, all board members serve on particular working parties (such as vehicle design, ticketing, publicity, etc.) and these working parties report back to the board.
At the meetings, you will receive reports from the company’s Managing Director about ‘Key Performance Indicators’ and about past and forthcoming developments. As a passenger representative, you will be asked to give your opinion on a wide variety of issues, affecting not just you but all users of our services.
